This page explains how to delete your account in Ponder: Daily Discernment, and how to delete part of your content without deleting the whole account.
Deletion is permanent and we cannot restore it. If you want to keep what you have written, open Ponder and choose Export my journal in Settings first. This downloads every thread, entry and note as a single file you keep.
Deletion happens immediately. Your account and all of its content are removed from the live database as soon as you confirm — there is no waiting period and no request to send.
If you cannot reach the in-app control — for example the app will not open on your device — email antonio.ramos.jr@gmail.com from the address your account is backed up to, with the subject “Ponder account deletion request”. Requests sent this way are actioned within 30 days. We can only identify accounts that have a backup email attached (Settings → Account → back up); a purely anonymous account has no email or name on it, so there is nothing for us to match a message against.
Subscriptions are separate. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Cancel that in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
A single note: open the thread, go to the Journal tab, and tap Delete note under the note.
A whole thread: open the thread and tap Delete this thread at the bottom. This also removes every entry, note and synthesis attached to it.
| Data | On account deletion |
|---|---|
| Your written content — thread titles, notes, journal entries | Deleted. Removed from the live database the moment you confirm, and from encrypted database backups within a further 30 days as those backups roll over. |
| Generated devotional entries and syntheses attached to your threads | Deleted. |
| Your account record and account identifier | Deleted. |
| Backup email address, if you provided one | Deleted. |
| Purchase and subscription records | Kept in de-identified form for as long as tax and financial record-keeping law requires (in Australia, five years). These records hold a transaction reference only, and no journal content. |
| Content reports you submitted | Kept in de-identified form, unlinked from your account, so reported content can still be reviewed for safety. |
Your subscription is held by Apple or Google, not by us. Deleting your Ponder account does not cancel billing. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
